This really sucks for me. I had a 50k map then when i used scmtoolkit, it changed to 516k!!!! How do i solve this? By the way, i believe this happened after i try to save my encrypted PW into my map. It loaded long until i saved.
Help isn't on the way!! But it sure is coming to me!!

I havent gotten into playing with mpqs or any of the fancy tools, I have stuck with Emerald StarEdit Platinum. But I have amap that should be less than 100k compared to similar maps, but instead it is almos 900k!? What should i do/ use to reduce the size of this map.

I changed the strings (that shouldn't do anything wrong), and I believe that the map protector was the thing that messed me up. It loaded forever until it finished then my map overflowed Plz help

If you save the map in a regular way, without the password, does it save okay without resizing then? If not, then compression is the problem. Just save it as a regular .chk (with password) and then insert it in a .SMX file using MPQ2K or the Stormless MPQviewer.

When I save it with a pass with the Toolkit, it loads for awhile on the mpq2k screen then it saves and its done. It takes about 20 minutes until it saves. When i save it without a pass, it goes back down to regular size. I don't know why.

By 'overflow' do you mean that the map is larger? This is because the data in the map encrypted by Scm Toolkit does not compress very well; this is because the encryption method causes there to be virtually no repeated data (this is required for many compression methods) in the encrypted parts. The parts Scm Toolkit encrypts make up at least half of the map.
