Troubleshooting

Note: Most of this information is obsolete if you are using ShadowFlare Software Setup wizard to install the programs.

General

Problem:
When I run (name of program), it gives the message, "A required .DLL file, VB40032.DLL, was not found."

Solution:
Download Visual Basic 4 runtime files (1.33 MB). Extract all the files, run setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions. If there are any error messages regarding files it cannot overwrite, click the "Ignore" button.

Problem:
When I run (name of program), it gives the message, "Can't load (or register) custom control: 'COMDLG32.OCX'"

Solution:
Download Runtime Files Pack 1 (205 KB). Extract all the files, run setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions. If there are any error messages regarding files it cannot overwrite, click the "Ignore" button.

Scm Toolkit

Problem:
When I open a StarCraft map, Scm Toolkit displays the message, "Could not find MPQ archiver, 'C:\some\folder\mpq2k.exe'"

Solution:
Download Mo'PaQ 2000 (838 KB).
Extract all the downloaded files into the same folder. Run setup.exe. Open Scm Toolkit, click on the Options menu, and give Scm Toolkit the location of "mpq2k.exe"
If you have Windows 2000 or XP, you will need to download and open ScmToolkit.reg. This will make the settings in the options menu save properly (except for file associations). If it still does not work and you have mpq2k.exe in a folder other than the one Scm Toolkit is located, try putting mpq2k.exe in the same folder as Scm Toolkit.

Problem:
When I open a StarCraft map, Scm Toolkit displays the message, "Could not find chk file, 'staredit\scenario.chk'"

Solution:
Make sure Scm Toolkit is set up to use mpq2k.exe. Refer to the solution to the above. If that does not work, click on the Options menu and make sure the map path for extracting and importing maps is set at the default.

Problem:
When I use the "Encrypted Protect" option of the map protector and save a map, Scm Toolkit seems to have stopped.

Solution:
The encryption technique I coded into Scm Toolkit is slow. Just be patient; it will eventually finish.
